Today is World Micro, Small and Medium Business Day. An important day to highlight the vulnerability of small local businesses in the Caribbean to natural hazards, particularly during the hurricane season. Yet their role is vital: they actively contribute to the local economy and can provide essential goods in the event of a disaster.
For this reason, PIRAC, through the Ready Together and 3 Oceans programs, is working alongside a number of players: the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of several Caribbean territories, the Global Disaster Preparedness Center and numerous small businesses. The aim is to help micro, small and medium-sized businesses draw up an action plan to be better prepared and reduce the impact of a disaster.
