6 National Societies and the IFRC join forces with PIRAC to build a regional READY360° awareness campaign

From December 28 to 30, 2023, PIRAC organized a regional workshop in Saint-Martin with the participation of the International Federation of the Red Cross and 6 Caribbean National Societies, as part of the READY360° program (Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Lucia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines).

One of the main objectives of the READY 360° program is to raise public awareness of the effects of climate change and disaster risks through a regional awareness campaign, to be broadcast in 2024 and 2025. The campaign aims to increase the long-term resilience of individuals and communities by promoting protective measures and adaptation solutions to climate change.

By using a collaborative approach, PIRAC brought together the six National Societies responsible for disseminating and promoting awareness-raising messages in their territories. The aim was to collectively build a strategy to identify possible means and levers for optimizing the impact and results of this campaign.

To support and strengthen the capacities of National Societies, 2 thematic sessions on the use of social media and the methodology for building an awareness campaign were proposed. The regional awareness campaign also includes the creation and dissemination of a Caribbean song, so participants were encouraged to discuss the subject and share their suggestions.

The event also provided an opportunity for the International Federation of the Red Cross to report on the key points raised at the Global Communication Forum held in Jordan in June 2023, bringing together Red Cross Movement players to discuss the challenges they face in communicating with their various audiences. This feedback provided input for the construction of the READY360° regional awareness campaign.

A roadmap was drawn up to identify the next steps in the process of building the regional awareness campaign. 

The Ready 360° project is co-financed by the INTERREG Caribbean program through the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER), in partnership with the OECS and CDEMA.
