Construction of the regional humanitarian warehouse in pictures

02 September 2024

Against a backdrop of intensifying and multiplying hazards and crises, since December 2023 PIRAC has been building and equipping a regional humanitarian warehouse in Guadeloupe to strengthen preparedness and response capacities in the Caribbean region. The warehouse will enable the pre-positioning of stocks of essential goods and humanitarian equipment to ensure an effective response to the needs of populations in the event of a disaster.

To better understand the interest and stakes involved in the construction of this warehouse, PIRAC will be broadcasting, from September 3, 2024
until April 2025, a series of four episodes dedicated to the various stages of this major construction project!

behind the scenes

Carried out in collaboration with the OECS and CDEMA, the project to build the regional humanitarian warehouse is part of the READY Together program (2019-2023), co-financed by INTERREG Caraïbes, the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) , the Guadeloupe Region and the CMA CGM Foundation. The READY Together program is part of the broader 3 Oceans project, financed by the AFD and collectively supported by the French Red Cross’s three Regional Intervention Platforms (PIR). The READY Together program is being continued through a new program: READY Together Extension (2024-2027), which shares a common mission: to strengthen the preparedness of Caribbean territories to cope with the risks of natural disasters and climate change.
