Caribbean-Risks.org: a new regional portal to better understand and prepare for risks in the Caribbean

On the occasion of World Meteorological Day, PIRAC – French Red Cross, the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), and the national Red Cross societies are launching www.caribbean-risks.org, a unique portal dedicated to natural hazards and crises in the Caribbean region.

In the Caribbean, cyclones, earthquakes, floods, and volcanic eruptions are frequent realities. Yet, until now, information has been scattered across different institutions and platforms. Caribbean-Risks.org brings all this information together and makes it accessible to the general public, providing a reliable tool to better understand and prepare for risks.

A portal designed for everyone

Caribbean-Risks.org offers:

• Educational content to better understand the various risks present in the region,
• Practical advice to prepare before, during, and after a crisis,
• Videos and visual content to facilitate understanding,
• Links to official sources and specialized organizations,

This approach allows every user, whether individuals, teachers, professionals, or institutional stakeholders, to access clear, reliable information adapted to the local context.

A collaborative regional project

This portal was developed as part of the Ready 360 project, with financial support from INTERREG Caribbean. It is led by PIRAC, in collaboration with CDEMA and OECS, bringing together regional expertise to provide consistent and relevant information across the Caribbean.

The launch is supported by a social media campaign, including the dissemination of infographics and carousel posts, as well as the creation of a Caribbean-Risks WhatsApp channel to reach audiences less present online.

Why this portal is unique?

This is the first regional initiative to centralize all information on natural hazards in the Caribbean. It contributes to:

Strengthening risk awareness,
Facilitating access to reliable and educational information,
Encouraging preparedness and resilience among local populations,

« In the Caribbean, we live with risks: cyclones, earthquakes, volcanoes, and floods are part of our reality. But living with risks does not mean suffering from them. By sharing simple, useful, and regionally adapted information, Caribbean-Risks.org aims to help everyone better understand their environment and prepare to protect their families and communities. »
